Marvin Diller is a graduate of the Cumberland Perry Welding Program, and Northern York School District. He is a member of the Occupational Advisory Committee for the Carpentry program (CPACTC), as well as an employer of CPACTC graduates. A while ago, during one of his yearly visits, Marv graciously provided us with some details about his experience in the trades working. Here is what he had to say.
Describe the company or industry you currently work in.
“I work at Lobar Associates Inc.- Commercial Construction.”
What is your job title and what do you do?
“I am the Executive V. P. / C. O. O. for the company.”
What other employment have you had related to your program areas at CPACTC?
“I have worked for Lobar for 40 years.”
What additional education and training did you receive after leaving CPACTC?
“My training was full-time on the job field training. I did take a fair amount of college mini courses as well.”
How was Cumberland Perry different as a school?
“It provided me with real-life hands-on skills and was what I needed to be able to do what I do as a career.”
How has your industry changed since you time at CPACTC?
“Tools and methods have changed a lot over the years. Projects move much faster now.”
What is your favorite memory from your time at CPACTC?
“My senior year was the first year that Sam Yinger, the former Welding Instructor was in the program teaching. It was great getting to know him and learn from him.”
