Joe Menges, a senior from Biglerville High School, has a career plan in place better than most high school seniors. It all started as a 9th grade student, when he toured the CTC campus and was immediately drawn to the construction cluster. He soon completed an application for the Welding Program at Cumberland Perry Area CTC. He was accepted later that year and jumped right into the task list as a 10th grader. At the conclusion of his junior year, he applied for a position with GVM in Biglerville and is now currently employed by them through the Cooperative Education program. Each day at GVM brings a new adventure for Joe, which is what he really enjoys most about his position. Reading blueprints, mounting brackets on new equipment, fabricating new parts, and all other general shop repairs are part of his day. The GVM team has adopted Joe as one of their own and he really cherishes the people who take time out of their day to teach him. The transition from the classroom to the world of work has been very successful for Joe, thanks to his dedication, work ethic, vocational training, and GVM’s team. With graduation in the not too distant future, Joe’s future appears to be on track.
