Drake Sellers, a senior from Red Land High School, has a career plan in place many adults should envy. As an 8th grade student, he completed an application for the Diesel Technology Program at Cumberland Perry Area CTC. He was accepted later that year and jumped right into the task list as a 9th grader. Knowing he was only permitted to stay in any one program for 3 years, he transferred to the Welding Program to obtain skills that would assist him as a Diesel Technician. At the conclusion of his 10th grade year, he decided Welding was the trade he wanted to purse. After 2 years of classwork and hands-on-training in the Welding Program, Drake decided to put his skillset to work through the Cooperative Education Program. He applied for a position with Cleveland Brothers - HYMAC located in Camp Hill and is now gainfully employed. Each day on the shop floor at HYMAC brings a new adventure for Drake. He can often be seen hard face welding (Overlay Mig), bore welding, welding stainless steel and assisting with the operation of a CNC Plasma cutter. Training supervisor Harry Parfitt raves about the knowledge and work ethic that Drake bring to work each and every day. Harry states that Drake is ‘one of the guys’ and barring any unforeseen circumstances, looks forward to having him around full time after graduation. Drake plans to continue his employment with HYMAC and gain as much hands on experience as possible to help prepare for whatever lies ahead. Only success awaits this young man!
